Teufelsberg

Berlin, Germany

Teufelsberg rises about 120 meters above the Grunewald forest in Berlin. The hill did not form naturally; it was built after the Second World War from the city’s rubble, layer by layer, until it became one of the highest points in the area.

Field Station Berlin and its striking silhouette

At the summit stands Field Station Berlin, a former U.S. listening post recognizable by its geodesic domes. The complex once served Cold War surveillance operations and today draws attention for its dramatic, weathered architecture set against the trees of Grunewald.

Graffiti art and access details

The building interiors are covered with graffiti and murals, turning the abandoned station into a constantly changing open-air gallery. While the hill itself is freely accessible at any time, the station is enclosed by fences. Entry requires a ticket, and guided tours are available for those who want a closer look at the site and its artwork.
