The Story of Berlin

Berlin, Germany

The Story of Berlin is a multimedia museum that explores the city’s past through interactive exhibits, film, sound, and set pieces. Visitors move through different eras—from imperial grandeur and wartime devastation to division and reunification—encountering scenes that make complex history feel tangible and easy to follow.

Displays combine archival material with modern storytelling. Everyday objects, personal accounts, and immersive rooms highlight how political change shaped daily life. The exhibition flow is designed to guide people step by step, offering clear context without overwhelming detail.

Inside the Cold War Bunker

One of the museum’s most striking features is access to an underground nuclear shelter. Built to protect more than 3,000 people, the bunker shows the infrastructure planned for emergencies: narrow corridors, heavy doors, and functional sleeping areas. The tour explains how the facility would have operated, including ventilation, ration storage, and strict time limits for occupation.

The stark concrete spaces contrast with the colorful city above, adding a physical dimension to Berlin’s Cold War story. Walking through the bunker underlines the practical realities behind civil defense plans and the scale of preparation that once defined everyday life.

Together, the exhibits and the bunker offer a layered look at Berlin, combining big historical moments with the textures of ordinary experience.
