The İstanbul Toy Museum offers a fascinating journey through the world of toys, inviting visitors of all ages to explore its playful collections. Located in the Göztepe neighborhood, east of Kadıköy, this museum is not only for children—adults can find just as much joy among its treasures. The museum was founded by the poet Sunay Akın, who envisioned a place where stories and childhood memories come alive.
The museum is set inside a historical mansion, creating a warm and nostalgic atmosphere. Its rooms are filled with toys from many different countries and eras. With around 2,000 pieces on display, the collection draws visitors into the rich history of childhood and play.
Among the museum’s most remarkable exhibits are some very old and rare items. One highlight is a French-made toy violin dating back to 1817. Another special piece is a doll from the United States, created in 1820. These unique toys invite visitors to imagine how children played and dreamed nearly two centuries ago.
