The National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy has a motto that captures its spirit: "Time is running, Academy is eternal." This phrase reflects a sense of enduring knowledge and tradition associated with the institution.
A Library With a Storied Past
The library of the old Kyiv Mohyla Academy once held an impressive and valuable collection of books. These works represented centuries of learning and scholarship. Unfortunately, when the academy was closed in the 1920s, the archive did not remain intact. The collection was plundered during this time, leading to the loss of many important works.
Historic Architecture
The university is also home to the Halshka Hulevychivna house, which stands as the oldest civil building in Kyiv. This historic structure offers a direct link to the city’s distant past and is an important part of the university’s heritage.
