Coram's Fields
The site of the Foundling Hospital, established in 1739 by Captain Thomas Coram, was offered for sale as building land in 1926 when, due to changing social conditions, the old hospital was sold and demolished. Keeping the colonnade, local people transformed the land into London’s first public children’s playground.
