Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2008 by Frank Gehry: Each summer for nine years, a temporary pavilion has been constructed here, designed by a prominent architect who has not previously designed a building in England. This pavilion resembles an urban street, open at both ends and supported by a massive steel frame with wood cladding. The roof is composed of overlapping glass panels, allowing views through the building to the surrounding trees of Hyde Park. The pavilion is open from 20th July to 19th October.
The 2009 Summer Pavilion at the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens is designed by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of the architecture firm SANAA.
