The Federal Building and Post Office at 271-301 Cadman Plaza East in the Civic Center neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City, was built in two stages. The original building, known as the Brooklyn General Post Office, was constructed between 1885 and 1891 and designed by Mifflin E. Bell, succeeded by William A. Freret, in the Romanesque Revival style. The north addition, now housing the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and United States Attorney's Offices, was built between 1930 and 1933 and designed by James Wetmore. Both structures were remodeled in 2000 by R. M. Kliment & Frances Halsband. They are designated NYC landmarks (1966) and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (1974).

This neo-Romanesque fairy castle was constructed in 1891. In 1933, it was expanded with a northern addition that perfectly matched the original style. The older section remains a bustling post office in Downtown Brooklyn, catering to the needs of many. Meanwhile, the newer wing is home to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York.
