While no part of Central Park can claim to be untouched wilderness, the North Woods comes closest to evoking the spirit of a genuine forest. This area offers a lush escape and a refreshing coolness, especially welcome during the warm summer months. Visitors are reminded, though, that this natural beauty is also home to mosquitoes, much like a real forest. It's wise to apply insect repellent before embarking on a walk through this verdant section of the park.
