The Horse Tamers sculptures are located at the Park Circle (Machate Circle) entrance at the southwest corner of Prospect Park, at Parkside Avenue and Prospect Park Southwest / Coney Island Avenue in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn. The sculptures, along with the adjacent pavilions, were commissioned by Stanford White (of McKim, Mead & White) in the late 1890s. The sculptures were designed by Frederick MacMonnies, the sculptor of the beleaguered Civic Virtue. This entrance was closed to vehicular traffic in 2010.
The Bartel-Pritchard Circle Columns at the entrance to Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York City, off Bartel-Pritchard Square in the South Slope neighborhood, were designed by noted architect Stanford White. The columns and plinths are made of granite, and the bowls and tripods are bronze. They were cast around 1906 and dedicated around 1911.
