Fountain of Neptune - Neptune fighting an octopus

The Fountain of Neptune stands as a striking 19th-century feature in the northern section of Rome’s Piazza Navona. Created to provide aesthetic balance to the southern Fontana del Moro, it introduces a powerful visual counterpart at the opposite end of the square.

Neptune’s Dramatic Battle Scene

At the center of the fountain, the Roman god Neptune is depicted in fierce combat with a writhing octopus.
